For Brian

My dad stopped by today to show the boys the antlers from the deer he shot this weekend.

A three point, no eye guards but a pretty big animal. 135 lbs hanging weight.

The reason this post is for Brian...my dad shot this buck with the riffle that was given to him as his retirement gift. Brian orchestrated the purchase and selected the riffle just for my dad.

A bit on my dad...he LOVES to hunt! He is very passionate about it. It meant a lot that his teachers understood his passion and selected the perfect gift...a hunting riffle. It was very touching for me to see them "know" my dad.

Anyway, back to the story...

My dad affectionately calls this riffle..."the elephant gun". It is dubbed so because it is quite a powerful riffle. It can shoot with some accuracy a LONG ways ( 400 yards or better). To gun enthusiasts this is great! So yesterday he was set to be able to shoot something that was clear across the canyon from him.

However, the buck he killed jumped out of the sage brush about 30 yards from him. That's pretty darn close!:)

And so here you have it...

Brian, you'll have to get the rest of the details from Dad cause only he can give you the true hunter play by play that you are both so famous for!:)

Oh, boy! I will need to close my browser window before Judah sees this! He is suddenly wanting to hunt. Uhm... no one at this house hunts. He's got his eye out for any man that would teach him. :)
