You got it...we'll smash it!!

This morning this is what the west end of our deck looked like. Behind that gate sat a hot tub. A hot tub that was just off our master bedroom. When we bought our house last summer we were excited about getting the hot tub. Turned out the hot tub was not as advertised...had a HUGE leak in it. So after investigating the cost to repair and then the cost of replacing, we decided that maybe we weren't hot tub people. The leaky hot tub and surround had to go.

Buster was out helping me with the before shots.

And so it began. Piece by piece they tore down the walls of the surround. While W&W Demo (William...Thad, my dad; Walter...Ted, my husband...sort of interesting that both of them were given first names that their parent's never used) were at work the rest of us were cleaning up the final flower bed in the backyard.

Kory showed just in time to help with the removal of the final wall and assist with the remainder of the project.

A short break and then....

the tough part....tearing down the hot tub.

When they say "Sawzall" they really mean "saws all".

Then the clean up crew.

With the demo complete we started dragging all the boards and the pieces of hot tub to the trailer and pick-ups to be hauled to the dump.

2180 lbs of wood and hot tub to the dump and tonight the west end of our deck looks like this.

Still a few boards to remove from the decking and some electrical wires to remove but we are nearly complete with this project!
