words read

The truth is that in this life you never really know how things are going to work out.

Some call that the beauty of this life...the unexpected plot twists...the surprise endings...

That's the key to a good story right?!

The unexpected.

We've all read those books that have a typical plot line and you figure out the ending about half way through.  Let's be honest we've all skipped to the end just to see if it ended the way we expected and then never really finished that particular book.  BORING!

Lately I've been reading books that are of the nonfiction flavor.

This time the unexpected twist, the surprise ending was my heart's response to the words that I had read.

It's been quite the journey through words these past few weeks/months....

One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Right Where You Are by Ann Voskamp

Love Does:Discover a Secretly Incredible life in an Ordinary World by Bob Goff

Anything: The Prayer That Unlocked My God and My Soul by Jennie Allen

Advent Conspiracy:Can Christmas Still Change the World?  By Rick Mckinley, Chris Seay, and Greg Holder

Kisses from Katie:A story of Relentless Love and Redemption by Katie Davis and Beth Clark

The Hole in our Gospel: What does God Expect of Us? The Answer that Changed My Life and Might Just Change the World by Richard Stearns

These books intertwined with reading the Bible have cause a heart shift...or dare I say an awakening...or maybe just fanned a fire that had been smoldering...

Jesus is still in the business of changing lives.

If we will only have the courage to step out of the boat...

I'm taking that risk.

As this new year begins, I challenge you to step out of the boat...let go of the old and embrace the new...

Take a leap of faith with me.

If we get wet, it'll be okay.  He'll be right there to pick us back up and put us on solid ground.
