Relationships

 

I love Christmas mail. 

 

Some with pictures, some with handwritten notes, some store bought, some handmade.

 

But even more than the receiving of them, I love what they represent.

 

Each one representing a relationship that is connect in some way to our lives.

 

Some are family.

 

Some are friends...some new, some old.

 

But each holding a special space in our hearts.

 

 

This Advent Season we read through "Advent Conspiracy: Can Christmas Still Change the World?" by Rick McKinley, Chris Seay and Greg Holder as a family.

The basic principles of their message were very simple:  Worship Fully, Spend Less, Give More and Love All.

It was a great reminder that often the best gifts are relational gifts.  Gifts of our time and gifts of the heart.  Gifts that when given truly represent how much we love and care for the recipient of the gift.

It was a call to turn away from the culture of consumerism...not necessarily to give up gift giving as a whole...but to focus on the relationship itself and to give more intentionally.

I was once again reminded how deeply blessed our family has been by the relationships that are represented by the cards and photographs that arrived in our mail box this Christmas season.

So to answer their question...

"Can Christmas Still Change the World?"

I say, YES!  YES, it can!
