The army is full of acronyms for all sorts of things. At times it can be a foreign language. I guess it just like anything else unless it's something your familiar with you won't know the lingo.
Last weekend we headed to the Armory in Pendleton to watch the MOB ceremony aka Mobilization Ceremony for a dear friend of ours that is being deployed to Afghanistan.
He is part of Team Steelhead and their unit is deploying is support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Melissa and I joked that it's sort of like trying to take pictures at the kids Christmas programs at school. The one you are trying to take a picture of is always in the back. Our friend is the one in the glasses (in the back).
The Governor and the Major General of the Oregon National Guard spoke and individually spoke with each soldier. Not sure what was said but it took quite a while for them to go through the entire unit.
An finally the reason that we went...our friend, Tim and his lovely wife, Melissa. We can never express how thankful we are for their family. For the sacrifices that they have made over that past few years so that we can continue to live safely and freely in the United States. We are so grateful that we were able to be there to support them as they prepare for Tim to be gone for a year or more.
And all the kids with the giant Chinook helicopter. It was pretty impressive I must say.
And so God Speed Tim! We love you and will be praying until you are "boots down" on American soil!
